On May 29th, 2013 Russia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry is hosting a congress of the Business Council of Belarus and Russia, said Deputy State Secretary of the Union State Alexei Kubrin in an interview with soyuz.by. According to him, the establishment of the Business Council has been in progress for several months already and at the forthcoming meeting the leaders of the Council are going to present a plan of action in different areas of cooperation.

“First of all, we propose to differentiate such notions as a Union State programme and project. At the moment we are preparing an appropriate legal basis for such form of cooperation as a project,” said A. Kubrin.

So far the Business Council has received about 50 proposals which could be implemented as Union State projects.

“Taking into account close co-operation in the area of earth remote sensing, as well as the fact that Russia is actively using the results of space activity, the Business Council is considering some projects in the sphere of space,” said the Deputy State Secretary of the Union State.

Cooperation in chemical industry is of special interest too.

“Some areas of activity are explored within the framework of joint programmes. However, there are also some projects that haven’t been put on the list of Union programmes, yet, we want to implement them as well,” said A.Kubrin.

He also noted that the Business Council had received a number of proposals to establish a Belarusian-Russian joint venture specializing in radioelectronic equipment.

“We have already gained a positive assurance from the supervising ministries of Belarus and Russia,” said the representative of the Standing Committee of the Union State. According to him, the new projects are being actively discussed by the members of the Business Council. However, they are worth talking about only when being implemented.
