A joint meeting of the CIS’s Economic Council’s permanent representatives took place in Minsk.

A joint meeting of the CIS’s Economic Council’s permanent representatives took place in Minsk.

In the course of the meeting the strategies for furture development of the Commonwealth till 2020 were discussed. In the course of the meeting a set of joint measures on the food security improvement in the member states of the CIS was considered, suggestions on the reasonability of joint production of agricultural machines on the factories of the member states were worked out, collaboration in the sphere of education and agricultural personnel training was discussed.

Moreover the participants of the meeting discussed the question of member states position coordination on the economic security of the countries in international organizations.

The press service of Executive Committee of the CIS reported that on the 8 of October 2009 the meeting of foreign ministers will take place. “On the agenda of the meeting a series of important questions on defense, border control, cooperation in case of emergency, and the overcome of the consequences of natural disasters”- the press service specifies.

In particular on the 8 of October in Kishinev the foreign ministers of the CIS will discuss questions concerning cooperation of frontier troops on the control zones between the member states and non-member states, the cooperation of armed forces in order to provide a single system of measures, a common policy of standardization and metrology
