Moscow Department of Federal Anti-Monopoly Service (DFAMS) has filed a suit against largest milk producers in Russia. Anti-monopolists suspect milk companies of collusion, as is reported by RIA “Novosti” quoting the official press release of DFAMS.

Russian “daughters” of the world producers (“Danon Industriya”, “Ehrman”, “Campina”) and the company “Vimm Bill Dann Produkty Pitaniya” have fallen under suspicion of Russian anti-monopolists.

The FAMS brought legal action soon after the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Moscow region complained against the above-mentioned producers. It noted that the companies had simultaneously lowered the purchasing prices of milk which led to extremely low monopoly prices of this product.

According to officials, since December 2008 the purchasing prices offered by all four companies have decreased by 25-26%. Here it should be noted that “Danon Industriya”, “Ehrman”, “Campina” and “Vimm Bill Dann Produkty Pitaniya” purchase and process about 90% of all the milk produced in Moscow region.

Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin charged the anti-monopolists with checking Russian milk market as long ago as in summer 2008. Then it was reported that “Unimilka”, “Vimm Bill Dann” and a number of other companies would be checked as well.
