Glen Hanlon quitted Belarusian national team of hockey

Head coach of Belarusian hockey national team Glen Hanlon resigned. The coach said his decision is the result of his personal moral and mental state, - Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation reports.

Meanwhile Glen Hanlon underlined that he believes in future of Belarusian hockey and wishes his former team luck at the Olympic Games 2010 in Vancouver and the World Championship.

The head of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation Vladimir Naumov underlined that he did not expect that Hanlon would resign. According to Vladimir Naumov the resignation of the coach should not affect the team game.

On October, 20 Glen Hanlon was dismissed as a chief coach of the HC “Dinamo Minsk” after its defeat in KHL. His assistants were also dismissed. At the same time on October, 22 the Canadian specialist announces he would continue his work with the Belarusian national team. The Belarusian hockey players began their training for the Polesye Cup tournament that will take place on November, 5-8.

We would remind that Glen Hanlon has been the chief coach of the Belarusian national ice hockey team at the world hockey championship in 2005, 2006 and 2009. Under the management of the Canadian specialist Belarusian hockey players took the 6th place at the World championship in 2006 and the 8th place in the quarter final in 2009.
