Commonwealth Customs Officers Agreed on Information Cooperation

As is reported by the press service of Russian Customs, on September 21st 2009 Igor Zavrazhnov, Deputy Head of Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia as well as Chairman of the Committee of Law-Enforcement Subdivisions’ Heads at the Council of Heads of CIS Customs Services, had a meeting with Alexander Bokov, Director of the CIS Bureau of Coordinated Fight against Organized Crime and Other Serious Offences.

As is reported by the press service of Russian Customs, on September 21st 2009 Igor Zavrazhnov, Deputy Head of Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia as well as Chairman of the Committee of Law-Enforcement Subdivisions’ Heads at the Council of Heads of CIS Customs Services, had a meeting with Alexander Bokov, Director of the CIS Bureau of Coordinated Fight against Organized Crime and Other Serious Offences.

During the meeting they signed a Protocol on Information Cooperation between the Committee of Law-Enforcement Subdivisions’ Heads at the Council of Heads of CIS Customs Services and the CIS Bureau of Coordinated Fight against Organized Crime and Other Serious Offences.

The draft of the Protocol was approved by the heads of law-enforcement subdivisions of customs services on May 14th, 2009 in Baku during the second meeting of the Committee of Law-Enforcement Subdivisions’ Heads at the Council of Heads of CIS Customs Services.

The signing of the Protocol will favour the bilateral cooperation in the field of capital offences control since the Protocol will make it possible to exchange information and analytic materials as well as to implement joint projects of law-enforcement orientation in CIS area.

The participants of the meeting were unison in the opinion that the exchange of law enforcement information is an essential factor ensuring economic and social security of the states. At the same time the establishment of closer contacts will further the implementation of intergovernmental programmes aimed at fight against international terrorism, crime, illicit trafficking of drugs and other unlawful activities.
