A new five-year strategy of scientific activities has been discussed at Belarus’ National Academy of Sciences. Industry, energy saving, biotechnologies, medicine and nuclear power engineering are now recognized as priority guidelines.
The scientists have been assigned the task to introduce innovations in high-tech production which will be competitive abroad. In 2010 the funds for scientific programmes obtained from the public purse will amount to more than 500 billion rubles.
Joint projects of the Union State were singled out as a separate item of expenses. Belarusian scientists together with their Russian colleagues will continue the work on an up-to-date computer and a satellite. Moreover, the new strategy of scientific activities provides for the improvement of the legislation in the sphere of innovations.
