Russian tanks set out for training in Belarus

On the 15 th of September the loading and dispatch of the Moscow military district tank unit has been started. The unit will participate in strategic exercise “West – 2009” in Belarus, the press service of the Defense ministry of the Russian Federation reports.

The forth separate tank unit of the 20th army of the Moscow military district will participate in the training in Belarus. The training will take place mainly on the territory of Obuz-Lesnovsky polygon. In the course of the training the polygons 174th “Domanovo”, 210th polygon of Air Forces, Air Defense troops polygon “Ruzany”, 206th polygon of the Attack Air Force base “Neman” will be exploited.

As it was reported earlier, the training “West – 2009” makes up the part of the planed movement of the military administration and military forces of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus, and Belarusian military units to the Russian Federation. On the territory of the Russian Federation the training will take place on the polygons “Ashuluju” (the Astrakhan Region) and “Telemba” (the Chita Region), the official reports.

“West – 2009” is the finishing action of the strategic training of the Military Forces of the union state in 2009 and will take place from 8 till 29 September under the joint guidance of the Defense Minister of the Republic of Belarus and the Head of the General Staff of Military Forces of the Russian Federation.
