RUB 845 Million to Be Appropriated from Union Budget for Development of Military Infrastructure Facilities

Draft Union State project “Development of Military Infrastructure Facilities” intended for joint use so as to provide Belarusian and Russian regional forces group with” has been worked out by the Ministries of Defense of Belarus and the Russian Federation in accordance with the resolution of the Union State Council of Ministers as of November 21, 2007 №32 and was passed on March 21, 2008 at the Union State Cabinet Council.

The objective of the programme is to bring the most important military infrastructure facilities intended for joint use to such state that will ensure effective fulfillment of tasks by regional forces group while they are planned and carried out.

To achieve this objective, programme’s implementation presupposes settlement of the following major problems at the selected military infrastructure facilities:

complete overhaul (restoration) of buildings, structures and installations;

construction of necessary buildings, structures and installations;

refitting of the facilities with necessary equipment.

Programmed arrangements are planned to be implemented in a phased manner: I phase: the years 2008-2010; II phase: the years 2011-2012.

The programme is planned to be financed at the expense of the Union budget. The amount of financing will make up RUB 846154,0 thousand (including RUB 296154,0 thousand contributed by the Republic of Belarus and RUB 550000,0 thousand assigned by the Russian Federation).

The amount of financing in 2008 makes up RUB 123141,0 thousand (contribution of the Russian Federation in the sum of RUB 80000,0 thousand – at the expense of Russian Federation payments; contribution of the Republic of Belarus in the sum of RUB 43141,0 thousand - at the expense of the Union State budgets’ rest of the money).
