Belarus and Russia continue working jointly so as to implement Union programme on technical cover of the railway

During the meeting of the Joint Council of Railway Troops of the Russian Federation Armed Forces and Transport Troops of the Republic of Belarus which took place yesterday the parties claimed that they are ready to complete any task the state will set. The more so because the objective – that is to secure the Union State in respective areas – is a common one.

“International cooperation with Railway Troops of the Russian Federation presupposes the following primary objective – training of railway troops forming the part of Regional Forces Group,” noted the Chairman of the Joint Council, Head of the Transport Provision Department at Belarusian Ministry of Defense, Colonel Vitali Kireev.

He also added that the main areas of international military cooperation are the development and implementation of the Union State Programme “Establishment of a uniform system for technical cover of regional railway”, Regulations on technical cover and restoration of regional rail transport, Regulations on technical cover of the railway of Collective Security Treaty Organization’s member states.

“We plan to hold joint military councils of Russian Railway Troops (RRT) and Belarusian Transport Troops every six months,” reported V.Kireev. “As provided by the Plan of Joint Actions, every year we train officers at technical college of RRT; we also realize in practice the Agreement on Brotherhood between the 77th separate decorated with the Order of the Red Banner bridge railway battalion of the 30th separate decorated with the Order of the Red Banner railway brigade of Belarusian Railway Forces and the 130th separate bridge railway battalion of the 35th railway corps of Railway Troops of Russian Ministry of Defense”.

Besides that, at present we are arranging the system of capital repairs of railway and engineering equipment at Belarusian enterprises thanks to scientific and industrial potential of the country. “Within the framework of intergovernmental programmes we are ready to consider and together with Railway Troops of Russian Ministry of Defense participate in a number of projects. For instance, the projects concerning the application of high-speed methods of artificial installations’ restoration,” said Head of the Transport Provision Department at Ministry of Defense.

In his turn, Head of Russian delegation, Chief of Staff, First Deputy Commander of Railway Troops, Major General Oleg Kosenkov, expressed confidence that transport departments of Russia and Belarus will manage to reach the objectives successfully, including the one concerning technical cover of the railway.
