Belarusian banks’ profits had a 1,3-fold increase in January-November

The profits received by Belarusian banks for the period of January-November in 2009 made up 1007, 1 billion Belarusian rubles that is 1,3 times more than for the same period in 2008. That was reported by the National bank of Belarus.

As of December 1, 2009 the banking sector of the Republic of Belarus included 32 acting banks, 25 of which are with foreign capital. At the same time in 21 banks the share of foreign investors in authorized capital exceeded 50%, 9 banks of which have been created with 100% of foreign capital, in12 banks the share of foreign capital makes up from 50% to 100%, in two of which only one share belongs to the residents of the Republic of Belarus.

Brunches of Belarusian banks for this period have been reduced to 48 brunches and as of December, 1, 2009 the banking sector of the country had 275 brunches. The main reasons for the reduction of brunches have been their optimization and close of the unprofitable brunches as well as the introduction of modern technologies of the management of the territorial structures of banks.

As of December, 1 on the territory of the Republic of Belarus there were eight representative offices of foreign banks including three Latvian, two Russian, one German, one Lithuanian as well as International banks.

In the banks of Belarus there are about 50, 9 thousand employees that is 2, 1 thousand fewer than it was at the beginning of the year.
