Union Parliamentarians to Take Part in Monitoring Presidential Elections in the Russian Federation

As is reported by the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly, on March 4th, 2012 deputies of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly, included in the CIS Observation Mission, are to take part in monitoring presidential elections in the Russian Federation.

As is reported by the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly, on March 4th, 2012 deputies of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly, included in the CIS Observation Mission, are to take part in monitoring presidential elections in the Russian Federation.

The delegation is headed by Chairman of the Standing Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance of the Council of the Republic at the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, member of the Parliamentary Assembly Committee on Foreign Policy Vadim Aleksandrovich Popov.

Parliamentary Assembly delegation will visit polling stations in different regions of the Russian Federation: Moscow city, Moscow, Tver, Rostov, Smolensk, Bryansk, Pskov, Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad and Krasnodar regions. Parliamentarians are planning to hold a series of meetings with leaders of regional election committees, as well as representatives of legislative and executive bodies in the regions of the Russian Federation.

Union parliamentarians are vastly experienced as international observers on the post-Soviet area. Parliamentary Assembly deputies have already taken part in monitoring election processes in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Ukraine.
