10 of the 15 registered political parties took part in nominating representatives to the territorial election commissions in Belarus. Reported by Lidia Yermoshina the Chairman of the Belarus Central Commission on Elections and Referendums at the press conference.

Among the contenders there are only 70 representatives of opposition political parties.

According to the CEC head, this is probably due to the fact that the activists are involved in the action teams and the combination of membership in the initiative groups and in the electoral commissions are not welcomed.

Voluntary associations have put forward in the election commissions 986 of their representatives, the greatest activity was shown by the trade unions - 269 people, the RPO (regional public organization) "Belaya Rus" has put forward -151, and BRSM (Belarus Republican Youth Union) - 142.

As reported by Yarmoshyna, 2,681 people are registered for each place in commissions. For comparison, in 2006 there were 2,274, that is, the number has increased by about 400 people. Among the contenders 1177 people (43.9%) are the representatives of public associations and political parties.

"Competition in the territorial electoral commission will be about 1.3 people for a place, if the commission will be formed to a maximum of - 13 people. If the commissions will be lower (note by www.soyuz.by the commission may consist of 9 – 13 people), the competition in commission will increase, "- Lydia Yermoshina explained.

In Belarus, 155 regional commissions (including the 118 district, 6 regional, 6 urban cities of regional subordination, and 24 districts in towns) will be established. Unlike the 2006 elections, the number of territorial commissions decreased by 10. This is due to the decision not to create a city commission in cities where there is a regional office and district committees will work.
