According to Nikolai Lozovik, Secretary of the Central Committee on Elections and Republic Referendums, the representatives of Belarusian Central Election Committee will participate in monitoring Presidential elections in Russia scheduled for March 2nd. However, they will not be the part of CIS delegation of monitors.

“On Russian Central Election Committee’s invitation Belarusian CEC will send its representatives to monitor the process of preparation and holding the election campaign. It is a short-term monitoring. We plan to leave Minsk on February 29th and to work in Moscow. Our main task is to familiarize ourselves with Russian CEC activities, monitor the process of voting and the counting of votes right at the polling stations,” noted the Secretary of Belarusian CEC.

He also informed that the representatives of Belarusian Central Election Committee will not be the part of CIS delegation of monitors. There is a certain programme which was worked out specially for the experts of CIS and far abroad countries’ Central Election Committees. “This group includes only professionals who will share their opinions and discuss all problems,” said Lozovik.

Under his words, on March 1st it is planned to get acquainted with the activities of Russian CEC and it is very likely that the representatives will visit territorial election committees. On the polling day the main attention of Belarusian delegation will be directed to the work of polling stations. On March 3rd the representatives of Belarusian CEC will participate in final press conferences which are organized by Russian CEC and CIS delegation of monitors.

Nikolai Lozovik also added that CIS delegation had already started its work in Russia. It holds long-term monitoring and makes a careful study of the agitation campaign.
