G.RAPOTA ATTENDED OPENING OF EXPOSITION DEDICATED TO AMBASSADOR OF BELARUS TO RUSSIA IN 1997-2006 V.GRIGORYEV

As is reported by BelTA, an exhibition dedicated to the Belarusian diplomat Vladimir Grigoryev opened at Vitebsk Regional Museum of the Hero of the Soviet Union M.F. Shmyrou on July 12th as part of the International Festival of Arts “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk”.

At the opening ceremony State Secretary of the Union State G.Rapota emphasized the importance of V.Grigoryev’s contribution to the development of relations between Belarus and Russia. “Few people know that Vladimir Grigoryev has contributed significantly to the establishment and development of the Common Economic Space and the Customs Union. He was a true ambassador who always defended the interests of the state he represented in Moscow and consistently pursued the policy aimed at development of Russian-Belarusian relations. So, if we really have achieved something, and I have to say we do have achievements and a lot to be proud of in our relationship, then we should give all the credit to Vladimir Viktorovich for that,” said G.Rapota. He also noted the outstanding humanness of the Belarusian diplomat.

The exposition, dedicated to Vladimir Viktorovich Grigoryev, starts with an exhibition project “Vitebsk’s History Through Its People” organized by the Museum of the Hero of the Soviet Union M.F. Shmyrou with the assistance of the Department of Culture of Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. The exhibits it displays tell about the life and work of this statesman and public figure, the contribution to strengthening of Belarusian-Russian relations he made as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation (1997-2006). Thematically, the exhibition reflects Komsomol (Young Communist League), Brest, Vitebsk and embassy periods of V.Grigoryev’s life, his business trip to Afghanistan, contribution to society’s life, and a set of awards.
