As is reported by BelTA, on July 27th during his working trip to Brest region President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko confirmed Belarus’ willingness to acquire Russian enterprise “Rostselmash” which specializes in manufacturing farming machines.

According to the President, he discussed this issue at a recent meeting with Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev. “I told him: we want to buy out your “Rostselmash”; we have good models, let’s put the finishing touches on them, if necessary, and then we will be able to set up a powerful holding company producing harvesters which will manufacture them for the whole Union State,” said Alexander Lukashenko.

The President stressed that Belarus is ready to guarantee the quality of the to-be-manufactured equipment. In this connection, Alexander Lukashenko once again requested to appraise and improve, if necessary, the models of combines produced in Belarus as soon as the current harvest campaign finishes: “It is necessary to update and upgrade three good models of harvesters that we will turn out for low, medium and high-yield fields”.

“It is very important. Besides that, we need to pay much attention to quality. Otherwise, we won’t meet competition,” he said. “The same thing concerns machines transporting grain: MAZes, etc. We must examine and improve them again, so that we could offer them on the market. Russia will always need a huge amount of such kind of equipment”.

According to the report given by Acting Minister of Agriculture and Food Leonid Marinich, the structure of the Belarusian fleet of combines must be changed drastically within the next few years, which, inter alia, is connected with good crop capacity. As a result, the average harvest time in the country should decrease from the current 22 days to 15 days, which ill make it possible not only to preserve the yield, but also to cut down expenses for fuel and lubricants, spare parts, and to improve the efficiency of agricultural production on the whole.
