Defense Capability of the Union State Is Being Strengthened

Military Doctrine of the Russian Federation has been approved. New Military Doctrine of Russia is designed till the year 2020. It is a fundamental document as regards strategic planning in the Russian Federation and is, in essence, a system of officially accepted views on preparation for armed defence and armed defence of the Russian Federation. The document takes into account basic provisions of the Military Doctrine-2000 as well as Concept of Long-Term Socio-Economic Development and Strategy of National Security till the year 2020. Besides that, the Doctrine takes into consideration provisions of the Foreign Policy Concept of the Russian Federation-2008 as well as Naval Doctrine of the Russian Federation till 2020.

As a priority of military and political cooperation the doctrine sets the development of relations with Belarus. The document presupposes coordination of Russian activities with Belarus in the area of national armed forces development and use of military infrastructure; introduction and harmonization of measures aimed at maintaining the Union State’s defenses in accordance with Military Doctrine of the Union State.

Moreover, under the Doctrine, the Russian Federation regards armed attack on the Union State member state or any other military activities against it as an act of aggression against the Union State and will take retaliatory measures.
