“Belarus – Russia. Taking a Step Forward”

The presentation of the awards for the best journalistic works that had won the contest “Belarus – Russia. Taking a Step Forward” took place in Minsk on 11th June. We would remind you that this contest of journalistic works dedicated to the Union State formation was instituted by the Standing Committee of the Union State in 2005. The purpose of the contest is to attract the attention of periodical, printed and electronic publications to the process of Belarusian-Russian integration as well as to inform the public about concrete events held within its framework.

The presentation of the awards for the best journalistic works that had won the contest “Belarus – Russia. Taking a Step Forward” took place in Minsk on 11th June. We would remind you that this contest of journalistic works dedicated to the Union State formation was instituted by the Standing Committee of the Union State in 2005. The purpose of the contest is to attract the attention of periodical, printed and electronic publications to the process of Belarusian-Russian integration as well as to inform the public about concrete events held within its framework.

The contest of journalistic works “Belarus – Russia. Taking a Step Forward” has already become traditional as this year it is held for the forth time.

The peculiarity of the current contest is an increased number of nominations – 11all in all, whereas in 2007 there were only 6 nominations. This year the jurors can evaluate not only the publications of printed mass media but also to express their opinion on the value of the materials in nominations “Best TV Programme”, “Best Broadcasting”, “Best Radio Programme”. It should be noted that the possibility to participate in the contest of TV and radio journalists has favoured the increase in number of applications for the contest.

Both Russian and Belarusian publications as well as a large quantity of works from regions took part in the contest. Mass media of such cities as Bryansk, Vologda, Voronezh, Grodno, Gomel, Desnogorsk, Novopolotsk, Perm, Pskov, Ryazan, Kaliningrad, Kaluga, Rostov-on-Don, Tomsk, Tyumen, Saransk, Smolensk, Cherkessk and Yaroslavl were represented at the contest.

In the end, the jury headed by State Secretary of the Union State Pavel Borodin announced 23 winners. 6 nominees became the Laureates of the contest of journalistic works. Nine more nominees were presented with commendations of the Union State Standing Committee.
