Union State Day at “Slavyanski Bazar in Vitebsk”

The Day of Union State was celebrated on June, 11th at the 18th International festival of art “Slavyanski Bazar in Vitebsk”.

The Day of Union State was celebrated on June, 11th at the 18th International festival of art “Slavyanski Bazar in Vitebsk”.

The key event of the Day of Union State has become an action taken by youth movement “Union State is WE!”organized by Union State Permanent Committee together with information partner “Belarusian encyclopedia named after P.Brovki” publishing house. A contest of children’s asphalt drawing “Colors of friendship”, exhibition “Photo chronicle of Union State” and other events have been held during this action.

Union State Secretary Pavel Borodin, deputies of Parliamentary Assembly of Union of Belarus and Russia Anatoli Lokot and Petr Shershen and other “union” officials paid a visit at the beginning of the action.

Pavel Borodin visited veterans of Vitebsk, made a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial to the defenders of Motherland at the Victory Square and visited exhibition “Photo Chronicle of Union State”.

Also State Secretary met participants of the contest of Children’s asphalt drawing “Colors of friendship” and gave rewards and presents and also made a quick interview for children.

During the day deputy minister of information of Belarus Alexander Slobodchuk on behalf of all Belarusian journalists gave P.Borodin a diploma and special prize “Crystal heart” for his care about spiritual and moral education of youth. The reward was instituted specially for state officials of Belarus and Russia for activities for the benefit of youth and especially for the benefit of those children who as fate has willed became disabled or orphans.

After the action Pavel Borodin gave a press conference where he answered the questions of representatives of mass media.

During the Day of Union State also there was a meeting of participants of the action with nominees for the Union State reward in the sphere of literature and art for 2009-2010 (Nikolai Chergintsev, Sergei Gumilevski and Alexander Yakubov). On the next day an exhibition of nominees for the Union State reward was opened in the Vitebsk art museum.
