Belarusian and Russian meteorologists make report on climate change influence on Union State economy

“About strategic estimations of climate change influence on environment and economy of Union State in the near 10-20 years” – this is the report that Belarusian meteorologists will make together with Russian colleagues. It will be considered at the board meeting of Union State Committee on hydrometeorology and environment monitoring that will take place on August, 5-6, 2009 in Saint Petersburg.


“About strategic estimations of climate change influence on environment and economy of Union State in the near 10-20 years” – this is the report that Belarusian meteorologists will make together with Russian colleagues. It will be considered at the board meeting of Union State Committee on hydrometeorology and environment monitoring that will take place on August, 5-6, 2009 in Saint Petersburg.

The report is also planned to be discussed at the Union State Ministers’ Council meeting in September in 2009. At the board meeting it is planned to discuss a wide range of issues concerning common activities of Ministry of natural resources and environmental protection of Belarus and Rosgidromet carried out within the scopes of Union State. In particular implementation of programme “Improvement of public support system and branches of economy of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus with information about climate patterns and environmental conditions and contamination” for 2007-2011 will be discussed.

Besides the participants of the meeting will consider a range of important questions connected with scientific and technical and strategic and industrial activities including personnel training in the sphere of hydrology and international cooperation in this sphere.

Close cooperation and joint activities within the scopes of Union State Committee on hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring are mutually beneficial and give possibilities to develop gradually and improve the relations between the hydro meteorological services of Belarus and Russia.
