Russia takes the first place among foreign investors in Belarus. That was reported to journalists by the deputy Minister of Economy Petr Zhabko.
The share of Russian investments among foreign ones in Belarus for the period from January to July of this year makes up 68% that is equivalent to 2, 7 billion of dollars. Today Belarus and Russia are developing more investment projects. The investment schedule made by the Ministry of Economy includes 19 new joint projects at the total rate of 10, 3 billion of dollars. The agreements on these projects are at the stage of development and the deputy Minister underlined that their implementation may be considered just after they are signed.
Talking about current Belarusian and Russian investment projects Petr Zhabko reminded about “Minsk City” project – the largest one at the moment at the total rate of 6billion of dollars as well as the construction of Osipovichi wagon works with Russian capital.
Deputy Minister said that for the period from January to June of 2009 4, 230 billion dollars was invested in the economy of Belarus that is 27% more than for the first half of the previous year. Direct foreign investments make up 2, 477 billion dollars that is two times more than the amount of the investments for the same period of the previous year. Other foreign investment (credits and loans, financial leasing) made up a t the rate of 1, 752 billion of dollars.
The biggest number of foreign investments is attracted to the transport system -1, 881 billion of dollars (44% of total amount of attracted foreign investments). The industry attracted more than 1 billion dollars (26%) and general commerce activity on market functioning support attracted 653, 5 billion dollars (15, 4%).
