Festival “Youth – For the Union State” Takes Place in Rostov-on-Don

The festival “Youth – For the Union State”, initiated by the Union State Parliamentary Assembly, started in Rostov-on-Don on September 22nd. On the proposal of the Parliamentary Assembly Committee on Social Policy, Science, Culture and Humanitarian Issues Rostov-on-Don was chosen as a permanent venue for the youth festival. Financing for the festival is obtained from the Union State budget.

The festival “Youth – For the Union State”, initiated by the Union State Parliamentary Assembly, started in Rostov-on-Don on September 22nd. On the proposal of the Parliamentary Assembly Committee on Social Policy, Science, Culture and Humanitarian Issues Rostov-on-Don was chosen as a permanent venue for the youth festival. Financing for the festival is obtained from the Union State budget.

In fact, the festival started with a youth action “We are faithful to the blessed memory” – wreath-laying ceremony which took place at the obelisk of Glory in one of the central squares of Rostov-on-Don. Some hours later at the hotel complex “Eurasia-Don” which is the main place of residence for festival’s participants there was held a get-together party as well as a draw for the youth song contest.

The grand opening of the festival took place at Rostov-on-Don Music Theatre on September 23rd. The event was attended by the deputies of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly as well as official representatives of Belarus and Russia.

The meetings of the Parliamentary Assembly Committee on Information Policy, Parliamentary Assembly Committee on Social Policy, Science, Culture and Humanitarian Issues, Parliamentary Assembly Committee on Legislation and Regulations were held during the festival in Rostov-on-Don as well.

It should be noted that not only deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly but also state, public and political figures as well as representatives of Belarusian and Russian youth associations (“Belarus’ National Youth Union”, “Young Guard of United Russia”, “Russia’s Youth Union”, “Don Youth Union”), amateur art groups, students of Belarusian and Russian universities, participants and winners of Union State contests, famous artists of Belarus and Russia participated in the work of the festival.

The festival will be concluded on September 27th by a gala-concert “One Fate for Two”.
