In 1862 in Novgorod the famous monument known as the “Millennium of Russia” was opened to commemorate the millennium of the founding of Russia. Engraved on the monument are sculptures of 106 prominent people who shaped the country. Amongst them is Archbishop Saint George Konissky who is remembered for his fidelity to the founding fathers, to Orthodoxy, and to the motherland.
